The plot may seem like familiar fare, but X-Men #94 would be the first regular issue of Marvel’s long-running series to feature the new team of Storm, Banshee, Wolverine, Thunderbird, Colossus, Nightcrawler, and founding member Cyclops. Although the new characters were introduced in Giant-Size X-Men #1, this is the first proper issue of X-Men to feature the newcomers who['d turn the struggling book into one of Marvel’s best-selling titles.

This striking debut would then become the first highly collectible issue of X-Men in several years. (In an interesting twist, future Marvel superstar Wolverine didn’t even rate getting featured on the cover.) These characters remain the future icons most closely associated with the X-Men franchise. Marvel Studios has already announced plans for new X-Men films as more mutants return for 2026's Avengers: Doomsday, helping to ensure this issue's status as a top collectible.
