DESCRIPTION
V31 #5 (May, 1938); Brundage bondage cover; "Pigeons from Hell" - Robert E. Howard; Lovecraft verse; Finlay illustrations
Robert E. Howard's horror short story "Pigeons from Hell" was written in late 1934 and published posthumously by Weird Tales in 1938. The title was inspired by a ghost story told by Howard's grandmother, involving a deserted plantation mansion haunted by pigeons. In 2008, the story was adapted and rewritten by Joe R. Lansdale, with art by Nathan Fox, and published in a four-issue comic series by Dark Horse Comics.
Robert Ervin Howard (1906 – 1936) was an American pulp fiction writer renowned for his diverse body of work. He is best known as the creator of the iconic character Conan the Barbarian and is widely considered the father of the sword and sorcery subgenre.
