Captain America vs hillbilly battle cover; bondage cover; Stan Lee story (2/42)Picking up where Jack Kirby left off, Al Avison turns in a wonderful cover piece for Captain America Comics #11, which features Cap battling a new enemy, a gang of evil hillbillies. This cover is based on the story "The Feud Murders" inside the book, and serves as an interesting twist on the run of Nazi covers up to this point. Perhaps signaling a turn away from Kirby's inflammatory anti-Axis obsession, this book is of some note in the history of Captain America, as it is the launching point of the decades-long estrangement the character would spend away from his co-creator, Kirby, who would return to the fold and his progeny in Marvel's influential Silver Age.
