Sub-Mariner #8 stands out as one of
Alex Schomburg's most thrilling wartime covers, with a dreamlike image of an oversized Prince Namor capsizing a Japanese carrier with his bare hands. The surreal imagery makes this issue one of the most enduring "Rising Sun" covers of the Golden Age. Schomburg's work is also inspired by the enclosed "Setting of the Rising Sun!" story, while the Sub-Mariner also goes undercover in the Marines for "The Mystery of the Lighthouse." Collectors further value this vintage book for one of the rare scripts by pulp writer Kermit Jaediker, whose "Genius for Murder" is a particularly grim tale of a psychotic would-be writer tracked down by the Angel.
