Much has been written about how Stan Lee made Spider-Man relatable to teenagers by having the character undergo the usual growing pains of a young man in the awkward phases of life. In this issue Spidey passes through one of the rituals of adolescence when he graduates from high school. It was through these traditionally American tropes that the character grew in the hearts and minds of his fans, who, in turn, grew up alongside their crime-fighting hero.
