Spider-Man #1 was an instant collectible in 1990, with fans lining up for Todd McFarlane taking on writing, penciling, and inking duties on a new Spidey solo series. McFarlane delivered the goods, too, with a debut story combining Peter and Mary Jane's domestic bliss with the threat of a brutally murderous Lizard being manipulated by a mysterious new figure. This issue (and its many variant covers) remains one of the vital cornerstones of Marvel continuing to take Spider-Man into the '90s as one of the world's most beloved characters!
