GGP THEN TO STEVE
1st Superman vs. Flash race; COMIC BOOK IMPACT rating of 7 (CBI)
Who is faster, Superman or The Flash? The argument likely raged on for years amongst young DC readers, defending their favorite hero in treehouse debates around the country. This issue sets out to answer the query and silence the haters. To raise funds for the UN, Superman and Flash agree to race around the Earth three times, to much international fanfare, but some bad eggs want in on the action, pitting criminal gangs from the US and Europe against one another for a billion-dollar bounty. Shenanigans ensue, with our two heroes being replaced by imposters to fix the race, but eventually, the Man of Steel and the Scarlet Speedster return to finish the contest, (spoiler alert) in a tie, foiling the villainous plans of the syndicates. An unquestionable classic key of the Silver Age, with an iconic cover illustration by Infantino and Anderson.
