DESCRIPTION
white pages; pence stamp,fc
Origin & 1st app. of the Teen Titans (Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad); Team name isn't coined until issue #60; Bruno Premiani cover/art; COMIC BOOK IMPACT rating of 8 (CBI)
Brave and the Bold #54 was born when DC decided to pair up three sidekicks to form their own super-team. Robin, Kid Flash, and Aqualad first get together here with an invitation to help mediate between the warring teens and adults of Hatton Corners — just in time for the small town to be attacked by tornados under the command of the evil Mister Twister. Wonder Girl would join the three heroes for Brave and the Bold #60, where the Teen Titans name was officially launched. 1966's Teen Titans #1 then launched their solo title with the team battling horrific beast-gods terrorizing Peace Corps volunteers in South America.
Much like the teen mutants of the X-Men, however, Teen Titans would struggle to survive into the '70s. DC then brought in Marv Wolfman and George Perez to revive the title in 1980 after the revived X-Men book began moving major units for Marvel. DC Comics Presents #56 introduced the New Teen Titans, and the success of their solo comic finally established DC Comics as a proper rival to Marvel's character-driven storytelling. Today, the Teen Titans franchise remains one of DC's hottest properties — with their bold beginning preserved in these gorgeous Near Mint issues that easily top the CGC Population Report!
