Human Torch #5 defined the WWII era of comics with the Human Torch and an enlightened Prince Namor finally working together as enemies of the Axis forces. In fact, Alex Schomburg's classic art features the first time that Nazis made the cover of the Human Torch title! First, however, the Torch and Toro foil the domestic threat of criminal mastermind Dr. Smart. Then we get to the cover story of "The Human Torch and Sub-Mariner Battle the Nazi Super Shell of Death!" (Carl Burgos handles the art on both.) Mickey Spillane joins Bill Everett as "Blitzkrieg of the Living Dead!" pairs the Sub-Mariner with the Angel in taking on the threat of the Nazombies. And don't miss the bonus rarity on the book's back cover, where an ad for Young Allies Comics #1 features an unused version of what became Jack Kirby's cover for the new title — scrapped after Joseph Stalin became an ally against the Axis forces.
