Weird Comics #20 has the Golden Age title going out with a bang — bringing in a bound Winston Churchill to be part of the action as The Eagle punches out Adolf Hitler! (That's probably Benito Mussolini holding the gun on Churchill.) Comic collectors know that real-life figures always make for hot collectibles among WWII-era books. Churchill's cover appearance, however, remains a rarity from a time when evil Axis leaders were routinely humiliated on newsstands. This wouldn't be Churchill's only comic cover, but he wasn't seen sharing space with Hitler very often.
This classic book also has the dashing Rapier getting an origin story in what turns out to be his only appearance. It's also the last time around for The Eagle, the Sorceress of Zoom, and Marga the Panther Woman — although Marga would go on to become a beloved public-domain figure.
