Al Avison took over the covers from Jack Kirby and turned in a wonderful cover piece for Captain America Comics #11 — featuring Cap battling a different kind of enemy in the form of evil hillbillies. This cover is based on the interior story "The Feud Murders," and serves as an interesting twist on the run of Nazi covers up to this point. Perhaps signaling a turn away from Kirby's inflammatory anti-Axis obsession, this book is of some note in the history of Captain America, as it is the launching point of the decades-long estrangement the character would spend away from co-creator Kirby. Of course, the King would return to bring back Captain America with the classic Avengers #4 from Marvel's influential Silver Age.
